Aunt Nettie’s Sweets & Treats at McKinney Farmers Market: A Southern Dessert Tradition
Discover the Heart (and Sweet Tooth) of the Market—Meet Aunt Nettie’s Sweets & Treats
If home means a table crowned with a just-baked pound cake, or the generous warmth of a sweet potato pie, Aunt Nettie’s Sweets & Treats brings that kind of home to every booth at McKinney Farmers Market. Founded by survivor, baker, and steadfast optimist Anjenetta Killette, this women- and minority-owned dessert company puts Southern comfort, hope, and genuine hospitality front and center in every hand-crafted delicacy.
A Resilient Journey From Oven to Market
Anjenetta’s path is one defined by both resolve and devotion. After beating cancer—now a nine-year survivor—she channeled that tenacity into perfecting generations-old recipes for family favorites. Her philosophy? Keep tweaking until each pie, cake, or tart churns up flavors of memory and bold new sweetness all in one bite. Formerly known just to friends and neighbors, Anjenetta’s home bakery blossomed out of challenge; her neighborly style and refusal to compromise on quality quickly earned her a loyal Texas following.
“My story—every recipe—was meant to prove that comfort, celebration, and big-hearted service can go hand-in-hand with ambition,” Anjenetta shares. It’s not just dessert; it’s encouragement, joy, and community on a plate.
